Alaska: Stunning Natural Scenery

Alaska: Stunning Natural Scenery

Cruising in Glacier Bay

The vast wilderness area that is now known as Alaska was purchased from Russia in March 1867 for the princely sum of 2 cents per acre.  The land went through several administrative changes before eventually becoming the 49th and largest state of the United States as recently as January 1959.

Alaska is a pristine area of massive glaciers, towering snowclad peaks and dramatic fjords - a natural masterpiece of water and ice which will take your breath away.

With World Discovery you can explore Alaska's wide open spaces, home to a varied wildlife including grizzlies, wolves, moose and caribou, or view the amazing sealife - humpback whales, orcas, sea otters and porpoises.

'North to Alaska' was the cry of the prospectors who sailed up the Pacific coast to Alaska before heading inland to the goldfields of the Klondike in the 'Gold Rush' of 1898, an arduous and risky journey which usually resulted in failure and despair.  Your journey now, in considerably greater comfort, is guaranteed to bring you rich discoveries in this awe-inspiring land of stunning natural scenery.
