Newfoundland Tours: Discover Whales, Seabirds and Icebergs
Newfoundland Tours - Puffin or 'Sea Parrot'
World Discovery Newfoundland tours will introduce you to "the place where the New World begins". Newfoundland's capital St John's is the oldest city in North America, and Newfoundland was Britain's first colony. It was from Signal Hill that Marconi received the first ever trans-Atlantic wireless transmission and said “hello” to the Information Age.
The history is interesting but it's the natural world that we celebrate on our Newfoundland tours - the world's largest gathering of humpback whales (as well as 20 other species of whales, dolphins, and porpoises), more than 300 species of birds including the most spectacular gannet nesting area in North America at Cape St Mary's, and the blue-and-crystal hues of mammoth icebergs — 15,000-year-old chunks of glacier — as they migrate south.
The Newfoundland tours are led by professional naturalists with extensive experience with both the natural and cultural heritage of Newfoundland and the neighbouring province of Labrador. The St John's-based specialist company we use has over 25 years experience in conducting wildlife holidays in the region.
