Tanzania, Land of Kilimanjaro
Lion, Tarangire National Park
A safari in Northern Tanzania offers you a glimpse of the real Africa - the unspoilt wilderness of Tarangire, the unique Ngorongoro Crater - dubbed by some the 'Eighth Wonder of the World' - the vast open plains of the Serengeti containing the largest concentration of wildlife in the world, and the spectacular Lake Manyara in the Great Rift Valley. Towering above the landscape looms Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain.
Further south lie the remote wilderness areas of the Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park, less visited than the safari destinations of the north and offering a different type of experience; the Selous is the world's largest game reserve and the only well-trodden paths you will follow here will have been created by elephants or the occasional local villager. Only tented accommodation is available - but of a very luxurious kind!
At the end of your safari why not sample the delights of Zanzibar, Tanzania's exotic Indian Ocean retreat, famed for its pristine white sand beaches and the fascinating Stone Town which has changed little over the centuries.
