Medinet Habu
Egypt Holidays - Medinet Habu
Medinet Habu is the Arabic name for the Mortuary Temple of Ramses III, one of the largest of the temples in Thebes, being second only to Karnak in size, and much better preserved. The entrance pylon, topped with a colourful winged sun-disc (below), is particularly impressive, as are the rich colours of some of the reliefs. Modelled on the more famous Ramasseum of Ramses II, Medinet Habu gives us a good idea of how the latter must have looked before it collapsed.
