Fairmont Hotel Vancouver

The 'Hotel Van'

Affectionately known as the 'Hotel Van', the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver has been welcoming guests for almost a century. Built under a joint operating agreement with the Canadian Pacific Railway, the hotel was completed in 1916. The Fairmont now offers 556 rooms and suites of a very high standard, and has a wide range of amenities, including several restaurants and bars, a spa and an indoor swimming pool.

All rooms have:

  • Air-conditioning
  • Alarm clock/radio
  • Bathrobes
  • Coffee/Tea maker
  • Cable television with in-room Pay-Movies/Games and Video Check-Out
  • Hairdryer
  • Iron and ironing board
  • Windows that open
  • High Speed Internet Access

The World Discovery price is based on a Fairmont Room (pictured left). An upgrade is available for a supplement to a deluxe room, or to a choice of different types of suite.

There is a choice of dining.

Griffins Restaurant (bottom left) is the city's most popular bistro, renowned for its fine dining, lavish buffets and dramatic decor that is highlighted by arched windows overlooking the Vancouver Art Gallery. The 900 West Lounge offers cocktails, an extensive wine list and live jazz in the evenings. In April 2008 it was named Vancouver's Best Wine Bar by the Vancouver Sun newspaper. Tea at the Castle is held every afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the 900 West Lounge. Traditional afternoon tea includes exclusively blended Fairmont teas, finger sandwiches, tasty pastries, and house-made raisin scones & fresh strawberries with Devonshire cream.

The hotel's Absolute Spa offers aromatherapy massages and other treatments. There is also a heated indoor swimming pool (below).
