Cochrane Place, Kurseong
India Holidays - Cochrane Place, Kurseong
On the outskirts of Kurseong, high in the tea country, is Cochrane Place, the restored British colonial home of Percy John Cochrane, MBE. It has been sensitively converted into a small atmospheric hotel, combining old world charm with modern facilities. The hotel is situated along a ridge, with breathtaking views of the mountains, including Kanchenjunga.
There are 28 rooms in all (15 standard doubles, 9 deluxe doubles, 1 deluxe single and 3 family suites). The rooms have a distinctive character with wood panelling, handcrafted furniture, antique burma teak beds, mock fireplaces and elegant bathrooms.
The Pankasari Restaurant serves a delicious range of homemade food, making use of the fresh produce from the hotel's kitchen garden; there is also the Chai Country café serving snacks and teas.
