Fatehpur Sikri
PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR
An hour and half drive to the west of Agra lies the atmospheric ‘ghost town’ of Fatehpur Sikri (right). This perfectly-preserved red-sandstone city was built by the Emperor Akbar as his new capital in the late 16th century, but was mysteriously abandoned after just 14 years. What remains is for many people one of the most spectacular sites in the whole of India. You will visit the Royal Palace and Court complex, including the unique Diwan-i-Khas (Hall of Private Audience) with its central Throne Pillar (pictured below), the five-storeyed Panch Mahal, the Dargah Mosque, and the exquisite white marble Tomb of Sheikh Salim Chishti with its beautiful lattice screens.
Includes private transportation, guide and entrance fees.
