Craft Villages, Rann of Kutch

Handicrafts are a living tradition of the Kutch region and even in the 21st century the high standards of the past have been maintained. The exact choice of villages varies from time to time, and only those specified on your permit can be visited. There will always be great variety, however, and you are likely to find exquisite embroidery, intricately-fashioned silver jewellery, wood carvings, lacquerware, copper bells, tie-and-dye work and leather crafts. The village huts are themselves often decorated with hand-painted floral patterns and inlaid mirrors, and the villagers dressed in the beautiful textiles they have produced themselves.
