Qadisha Valley
PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR
Classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Qadisha Valley is located in the heart of Northern Lebanon at the foot of Mount Mekmel. It is a region of spectacular beauty and it was also here that the Maronite Christians fled from persecution and from the 5th century onwards built many monasteries and churches, often carved from the living rock (see picture of the Mar Elisha monastery below). It is a superb area for walking and today you will cover approximately 12 kilometres at an altitude of 900 to 1300 metres. To reach some of the sites mountain techniques (ropes and harnesses) are used. Pictured right: the town of Bcharré (where your hotel is located) is perched dramatically on the rim of the Qadisha Valley.
Includes private transportation and guide.
