Mahoora Tented Camp, Udawalawe
The campsite is set up prior to your arrival so all you have to do is sit back
and relax. In the evening, the camp is lit up by a roaring campfire and
copra torches and guests can enjoy a mouthwatering menu of food and
beverages.
It
is a memorable experience spending the night in the heart of a
National Park, listening to the occasional sound of elephants splashing
water in rivers close by and the sounds of nocturnal creatures going
about their nightly business.
The tent, including the bathroom**, is equipped with a
wall-to-wall carpet. Two very comfortable folding chairs with a coffee
table are placed in the living room, which also has a baggage rack in
addition to a candle-stand and a floor cushion. There are two comfortable
linen-clad beds with 6-inch mattresses, a bedside stool, a fresh fruit basket, a
clothes rack and a secure place to place your valuables.
** The bathroom has a flushable toilet with commode, shower with hot
and cold water and a stand with a wash basin and mirror.
The food is prepared on site by an experienced senior chef. Breakfast includes traditional Sri Lankan touches, as well as toast, fruits, cornflakes or bacon and eggs if required. Lunch is traditional Sri Lankan food along with salads and soup. Dinner is often a barbecue eaten around the campfire. There is a well-stocked bar, and soft drinks and mineral water are also available. Wines too, can be made available on prior request. Chilled beverages will be made available during safaris.
