Oddballs' Enclave, Okavango Delta

“A small, intimate hideaway with spectacular views over the flood plain that lies before it. ”

Oddballs' Enclave is situated on the edge of Chief's Island, deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta.  It is categorised as a 'Water Camp', and offers bush walks and mokoro excursions.  There are just 5 twin-bedded meru-style tents (pictured below) set on elevated wooden decks, with rustic ensuite facilities.

The main guest area consists of a bar and lounge with comfortable seating. The raised viewing deck is the perfect place to watch the sun rise over the floodplain and view whatever wildlife may be visiting.  Meals are simple, yet wholesome and enjoyed at the table with stunning views over the Delta.

The focus at Oddballs is to recreate a time when safaris were a real adventure. Activities are conducted by your own professional guide (each tent is allocated its own guide), a man of the swamp, born and bred in the area.  The activities at Oddballs’ Enclave usually start by mokoro, after which you will walk on some of the larger islands in the area.  Walking is an integral and significant part of the experience at any time of year.  The extent of the walks will depend on your tastes.  Guests usually go out in the early morning, having a late breakfast on their return, and again in the afternoon after the midday heat has dissipated, but some elect to go out for the whole day with a packed picnic lunch.

It is often said that the very best way to experience the wonders of the African bush is on foot and Oddballs’ Enclave certainly lives up to that claim.

Oddballs’ Enclave caters to the active traveller and undoubtedly represents great value for money.
