Beirut is just 4 and a half hours away by direct flight from London, so it's an ideal location for a long weekend escape. The Movenpick is a 5 star hotel that offers a Mediterranean resort atmosphere yet is located just 10 minutes from downtown Beirut with its great shopping, dining and nightlife. Enjoy a few days at leisure or use the Movenpick as your base for exploring further afield - all of Lebanon's top historic attractions are within a few hours' drive of the capital.
DAY 1 - Arrive Beirut.
On arrival in Beirut you will be met by a representative of WorldDiscovery outside immigration and customs. You will then be taken byprivate car direct to your hotel. Recommended flight from London: MEA (Middle East Airlines) from London Heathrow (see below). If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.
DAYS 2 TO 4 – Beirut.
Three days to simply relax on the Mediterranean coast and enjoy Beirut's many delights, or you can choose from a wide range of optional excursions which our agents will be pleased to arrange for you. In Beirut itself, don't miss the excellent National Museum of Beirut [more], while to the north of the city you can reach the charming and historic port of Byblos [more] in less than an hour, perhaps combining it with a visit to the amazing Jeita Grotto [more]. To the south, the ancient Phoenician port of Sidon beckons [more], often combined with a drive into the Chouf Mountains to visit the hill town of Deir al-Qamar and the Palace of Beiteddine [more]. Last but not least, for lovers of history there are the breathtaking ruins of Baalbeck [more], Lebanon's most famous attraction located in the scenic Bekaa Valley, visited on a full day trip which could also include the fascinating archaeological site of Aanjar [more] and the acclaimed Chateau Ksara Winery [more]. In the evenings why not head for the Place d'Etoile, at the heart of the renovated city centre of Beirut with its many shops, restaurants and night clubs.

DAY 5 – Homeward flight.

- A Lebanese Visa. This can be obtained before departure from Lebanese Embassyin London, or alternatively you can purchase the visa on arrival at Beirut Airport (recommended). The current price for obtaining your visa on arrival is US$17, to be paid in cash by the passenger (no forms or photos required). Your passport should not contain any Israeli stamp or visa.
A deposit of £150 per person is required at the time of booking. The balance of the price for your travel arrangements must be paid at least 8 weeks before your departure date.
