Explore Canada by rail from the Pacific to the Atlantic, featuring all the highlights in between, on this unforgettable cross-country journey.

DAY 1 - Arrive Vancouver.

On arrival at Vancouver International Airport take a taxi (not included) to your centrally-located hotel. Recommended flight: British Airways from London Heathrow (see below). If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.

PRIVATE LIMOUSINE TRANSFERS: If you prefer we can arrange for you to be met at Vancouver Airport by a representative of World Discovery and taken by private chauffeur-driven limousine to your hotel. The one-way cost is £38 per person.

DAY 2 - Vancouver to Kamloops.

Travel onboard the Rocky Mountaineer from Vancouver to Kamloops. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Overnight in Kamloops.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch.

DAY 3 - Kamloops to Banff.

Your journey continues eastwards to the mighty Canadian Rockies and the province of Alberta. Highlights include Craigellachie, where the last spike of the Canadian Pacific Railway was driven, Rogers Pass, the Kicking Horse Canyon, the Spiral Tunnels and the glaciers and snow-capped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Overnight in Banff.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch.

DAY 4 - Banff with helicopter ride.

This morning travel to Kananaskis for a 12-minute Summit Helicopter Tour* over the remarkable landscape of the Rockies. After your helicopter ride you will explore Banff on a sightseeing tour. Highlights include visits to Bow Falls, the Banff Gondola (admission included), Lake Minnewanka, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. The rest of the day is free. Overnight in Banff.
* A price reduction of £80 will apply for the Summit Helicopter Tour in the event of inclement weather or if a guest chooses not to fly.

DAY 5 - Banff to Lake Louise.

A half-day tour takes you into Yoho National Park to view some of its natural wonders. Among the highlights are the Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake and a natural rock bridge that spans the Kicking Horse River. The tour ends in Lake Louise (pictured left) where the remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure. Overnight in Lake Louise.

DAY 6 - Lake Louise to Jasper.

Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Banff and Jasper National Parks via the Icefields Parkway. Upon arrival at the Columbia Icefield you will take a ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier. Time will be available for lunch (not included). Arrive in Jasper late afternoon. Overnight in Jasper.

DAY 7 - Jasper.  Depart by VIA Rail to Toronto.

This evening begin your four-day VIA Rail journey on 'The Canadian' across the Prairie provinces and northern Ontario. Overnight on VIA Rail.
Meals included: Dinner.

DAY 8 - VIA Rail to Toronto.

Continue your rail journey across Canada to Toronto. Overnight on VIA Rail.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

DAY 9 - VIA Rail to Toronto.

Continue your rail journey across Canada to Toronto. Overnight on VIA Rail.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

DAY 10 - Arrive Toronto.

Arrive in Toronto on VIA Rail this morning. Overnight in Toronto.
Meals included: Breakfast.

DAY 11 - Niagara Falls.

Enjoy a full day motorcoach tour to Niagara Falls, one of the great natural wonders of the world. Included is a cruise on the Maid of the Mist* to the base of Horseshoe Falls. Return to Toronto early this evening to overnight. Overnight in Toronto.

* Imax Theatre or Journey Behind the Falls is substituted when Maid of the Mist is not operating.

DAY 12 - By VIA Rail from Toronto to Montréal.

Travel by VIA Rail in Business Class from Toronto to Montreal. Overnight in Montréal.

 

DAY 13 - Montréal.

Enjoy a half-day guided tram tour of Montréal today. Scheduled stops include Old Montréal, Notre-Dame Basilica (pictured left), Olympic Park, Mount Royal and McGill University. Overnight in Montréal.

 

DAY 14 - Montréal.  Depart by VIA Rail to Halifax

Spend the day sightseeing independently in Montréal before taking the overnight VIA Rail train journey on 'The Ocean' to Halifax. Dinner is served onboard. Overnight on VIA Rail.
Meals included: Dinner.

DAY 15 - Arrive Halifax.

Enjoy the scenic landscapes before arriving in Halifax this afternoon. Meals are served on board. Spend the rest of the day exploring this eastern seaboard city. Overnight in Halifax.
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch.

DAY 16 - Depart for home.

Your Coast to Coast by Rail vacation ends with check-out from your Halifax hotel.  Take a taxi (not included) to Halifax Airport for your homeward flight.

DAY 17 - Arrive home.

Arrive London Heathrow in the morning.

We recommend the services of Air Canada from London Heathrow. Flights can be booked through their easy-to-use website www.aircanada.com using the 'Multi-city' option. Current timings (subject to possible change) are as follows:
Heathrow/Vancouver. Depart at 10.50; arrive Vancouver at 12.20
