Continue to the ruins of Tel Beersheva (11th century BC) and then to the Nabatean hilltop site of Avdat, founded as a stopover on the trade route between Egypt and Asia Minor in the 2nd century BC. This strategic town flourished under the Byzantines and most of what you see today dates from the 4th and 5th century AD.
