DAY 1 - Depart UK.

Recommended flight from London: Jet Airways from London Heathrow (see below). If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.

DAY 2 - Arrive Delhi.

On arrival in Delhi in the morning you will be met by a representative of World Discovery outside immigration and customs. You will then be taken by private car direct to your hotel.  The remainder of the day is at leisure.

DAY 3 – Delhi Sightseeing.

Your World Discovery India holiday gets under way after breakfast, when you meet your guide and spend the morning visiting the highlights of India’s capital city, beginning with the monuments in South Delhi. The afternoon is spent exploring New Delhi.

DAY 4 – By rail to Agra. Continue by road via Fatehpur Sikri to Bharatpur.

An early transfer to Delhi Railway Station to board the Shatabdi Express train to Agra, the capital of the Mughal Empire. You will travel in Executive Class for the journey of approximately 2 hours. On arrival your driver and guide will meet you and you will proceed to visit what is generally regarded as the world’s most romantic building – the glorious white-marble Taj Mahal and the Agra Fort. In the afternoon drive to the atmospheric ‘ghost town’ of Fatehpur Sikri. After a guided tour of this wonderful city, continue to Bharatpur and your accommodation at the delightful Laxmi Vilas Palace, built in 1899 for the son of the Maharajah of Bharatpur.

DAY 5 – Bharatpur.

This morning a specialist naturalist guide will collect you from the palace and take you into Bharatpur’s Keoladeo Ghana National Park. The rest of the day is at leisure.

DAY 6 – Drive to Jaipur.

In the morning drive to the famous ‘pink city’ of Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan. Founded in 1727 by Maharajah Jai Singh II, Jaipur is the classic Rajput city, with its colourful bazaars, palaces and ‘havelis’ (mansions). The afternoon is at leisure.

DAY 7 – Jaipur sightseeing.

This morning enjoy a guided tour of the highlights of Jaipur.The afternoon has been left free for relaxation, or shopping. The Old City of Jaipur has a huge selection of shops specialising in printed cotton, handicrafts, carpets, pottery and jewellery.

DAY 8 – Jaipur.

The day is at leisure.

DAY 9 – Drive to Samode via Amber Fort.

Before Jaipur was founded, the capital of this region was Amber, built high on a ridge overlooking the surrounding countryside. The huge Amber Fort is just 11km north of Jaipur, and this morning you will set off to visit it.  After the visit, continue on your journey to the village of Samode, overlooked by the imposing palace, where you will enjoy an afternoon at leisure and stay overnight. In the evening there will be a display of traditional dancing.

DAY 10 - Drive back to Delhi.

Morning free. In the afternoon drive back to Delhi. Accommodation this evening is at a modern hotel located close to the International Airport.
Meals included: Full breakfast.

DAY 11 – Depart for home.

Private transfer to the airport for your international flight home.
Meals included: Full breakfast.

We recommend the services of Jet Airways from London Heathrow. Flights are non-stop and have a choice of classes. Current timings (subject to possible change) are as follows:
Heathrow/Delhi. Depart at 20.45; arrive Delhi at 09.45 (next day)
Delhi/Heathrow. Depart at 13.45; arrive Heathrow at 18.30

• The services of a private guide for the included sightseeing. For sightseeing on journeys between cities (e.g. at Fatehpur Sikri) your guide will be waiting at the site to meet you when you arrive).
  

Not included in the price:

• International flights (see our recommendation above). We are happy to discuss the flights with you and give you further guidance.
• Optional sightseeing.
• International airport taxes.
• Tipping. We will be pleased to give guidance in this often sensitive matter.
• An Indian Visa. This should be obtained before departure from the United Kingdom. Applications should be made online through VFS Global, the official representatives of the High Commission in London - http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk/

A deposit of £250 per person is required at the time of booking. The balance of the price for your India holiday must be paid at least 8 weeks before your departure date.
