DAY 1 – Depart UK.
Recommended flight from London: British Airways from London Heathrow (see below). If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.

On arrival in Bangkok you will be met outside customs by a representative of World Discovery and taken by private car direct to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.
DAY 3 – Bangkok.
Your World Discovery Thailand holiday begins after breakfast, when your
private guide meets you at your hotel and takes you to visit the Grand Palace,
arguably the most important cultural icon in the land. Once the royal
abode, the palace is today used mainly for ceremonial functions. You
are allowed inside to see the Emerald Buddha, which
dates back to the 14th century. The robes on the Buddha are changed
with the seasons by H.M. the King of Thailand, an important ritual in
the Buddhist calendar. Continue on foot to the Royal Navy Club
for a simple Thai lunch. In the afternoon board your private boat
nearby, and cross the Chao Phraya River to the Thonburi district, where
you will visit the glittering Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn) and the magnificent Royal Barge Museum.
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch.
DAY 4 - Bangkok.
At leisure in Thailand's capital, with a choice of exciting optional excursions, including the colourful Floating Market at Damnoen Saduak and the ancient ruins of Ayutthaya (1350-1767 AD).
Meals included: Full breakfast.
DAY 5 - Nakhorn Pathom. River Kwai.
After an early breakfast you will be collected from your hotel for the journey to the River Kwai. Stop en route tn the town of Nakhorn Pathom to visit Phra Pathom, the world's tallest Buddhist monument. The orange-clad chedi (reliquary tower) dates back to the mid 1850s and attracts Buddhist pilgrims from all over the world. Continue to Kanchanaburi with a stop at the moving World War II cemetery, resting place for more than 6,000 allied prisoners of war who laboured under the Japanese on the construction of the Thailand-Burma Railway. You may take a leisurely walk across the famous bridge over the River Kwai (pictured) before driving to your hotel.
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch.
DAY 6 – River Kwai. Death Railway.
This morning visit Thaveechai elephant camp, where you will enjoy an exciting elephant ride and some bamboo rafting. Then visit the Hellfire Pass Memorial Museum which is dedicated to those who died at Hell Fire Pass, one of the most difficult sections of the railway. Take a ride on the notorious Death Railway Train, passing over a dangerous-looking wooden bridge which was built along the side of a mountain.
