DAY 1 - Depart UK.
Recommended flight from London: British Airways from London Heathrow. If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.
DAY 2 - Arrive Dar es-Salaam. Continue to the Selous.
On arrival in Dar es-Salaam International Airport in the morning you will be met by a representative of World Discovery and taken to Terminal 1 to connect with your Coast Aviation flight to the Selous Game Reserve, a flight of approximately 45 minutes. On arrival you will be transferred to Selous Safari Camp [more] in time for lunch. This afternoon you will enjoy your first game drive.
Meals included: Lunch, dinner.
DAYS 3 AND 4 - Selous Game Reserve.
You have two full days here and a full range of activities has been organised for your stay, including morning and afternoon game drives and the unique opportunity to enjoy either boat or walking safaris with expert guides. The largest wildlife sanctuary in Africa, the Selous Game Reserve was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. Covering an area the size of Switzerland, this spectacular wilderness holds over 50% of Tanzania's total elephant population, as well as rare wild dog, black rhino and some 440 species of birds. It also boasts a huge diversity of game animals, with some of the largest herds left on the continent, especially wildebeest, zebra, impala and some 200,000 buffalo, making it a rich hunting ground for lion, leopard and cheetah.
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch, dinner each day.
DAY 5 - Fly to Ruaha National Park.
After breakfast head to the Selous airstrip for your two-hour flight to the beautiful Ruaha National Park. On arrival transfer to the secluded tranquility of the Jongomero Camp [more].
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch, dinner.
DAYS 6 AND 7 - Ruaha National Park.
Two full days in Ruaha, one of Africa's best kept secrets - a spectacular landscape of baobab trees, sandstone gorges and lush forests, all fed by the waters of the great Ruaha River. These two days will see you enjoy exhilarating game drives through this pristine country, experiencing the diversity of a unique transition zone, where the flora and fauna of the eastern and southern regions of Africa cross over before the majestic backdrop of the Great Rift Valley. Large herds of antelopes populate these plains, making it ideal territory for the ever-present predators. Lion, leopard and cheetah all hunt amongst these spectacular landscapes and it is one of the best places in Africa to view the elusive and endangered African wild dog. The shallows of the Ruaha's flowing waters are the preserve of huge prehistoric-looking crocodiles, whilst the skies are alive with some of the 500 species of bird recorded here.
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch, dinner each day.
DAY 8 - Fly to the shores of the Indian Ocean.
Morning departure to Ruaha Airstrip for your 3 hour flight to Dar es-Salaam. On arrival you will be transferred to Ras Kutani Beach Resort [more], 35 miles south of the city, located on the tranquil shores of the Indian Ocean.
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch, dinner.
DAYS 9 AND 10 - Ras Kutani.
Two days to relax and enjoy this delightful destination.
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch, dinner each day.
DAY 11 - Depart for home.
