excluding international flights
DAY 1 - Depart UK.
On arrival in Arusha (Kilimanjaro International Airport) you will be met by a representative of World Discovery and taken by private vehicle to your hotel. Recommended flight from London: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines from London Heathrow via Amsterdam. If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.
DAY 2 - Tarangire National Park.
Transfer to downtown Arusha where you will join your fellow group members, have lunch and receive a safari briefing. From here you will travel to Tarangire National Park, located in the Rift Valley about 100 kilometres south of Arusha. In the afternoon you will enjoy your first game drive. Tarangire is noted for its extensive swampland, and also for thousands of ancient baobab trees. The park has some of the highest game concentrations in Africa and is an excellent place to see zebra, elephant and buffalo.
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch, dinner.
DAY 3 - Drive to the Ngorongoro Crater.
Early morning game drive in Tarangire. Return to your lodge for breakfast. Later in the morning depart for one of the world's greatest natural wonders, the Ngorongoro Crater. This intact caldera (or collapsed volcano) forms a natural amphitheatre, some 12 miles in length, and is famed for the staggering concentration of animals that live on the crater floor. In the centre lies Lake Magadi, offering a year-round supply of fresh water that makes this area such a spectacular wildlife oasis. Your lodge is located on the crater rim.

Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch, dinner.
DAY 4 - Ngorongoro.
Today you will enjoy a full day in the Ngorongoro Crater, travelling by 4x4 vehicle down into the heart of an area that has been described as 'Africa's Garden of Eden'. You will see large herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle; elephant, buffalo, hippo and lion are also plentiful. Ngorongoro is possibly the best place on earth to see the rare black rhino; this is one of the very few areas where they continue to breed in the wild.

Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch, dinner.
DAY 5 - Into the Serengeti.
After breakfast depart for Serengeti National Park, perhaps Africa's most famous game reserve. There will be gameviewing en route to the lodge. This area of 'endless plains' (the literal meaning of serengit in the Maasai tongue) covers nearly 15,000 square kilometres and its vast expanse provides an exceptional landscape for wildlife viewing. It is justifiably famous for the sheer number of its animals - especially the big cats - as well as being the on the route of the great migration, a massive accumulation of 1.6 million wildebeest, 200,000 zebra and 350,000 gazelles, stretching their legs over 2,000 kilometres in an annual race to find water and green grass for their survival.
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch, dinner.
DAY 6 - Serengeti National Park.
Morning and afternoon game drives in Serengeti National Park.
Pictured left: sunrise in the Serengeti.
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch, dinner.
DAY 7 - Drive to Lake Manyara.
OPTIONAL BALLOON RIDE: Please click on the link for details.
This morning you will drive into the Rift Valley to stay at Lake Manyara. In the afternoon there will be a game drive in this scenic national park, which is particularly good for birdwatching. It is also famous for its unusual tree-climbing lions.
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch, dinner.
DAY 8 - Lake Manyara. Depart for UK.
Before breakfast there will be a final game drive. Return to Arusha for lunch. In the evening transfer to the airport for your homeward journey.
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch.
DAY 9 - Arrive UK.
Morning arrival in the UK.
