Lebanon is a small country and distances are relatively short between the major attractions. It is therefore perfectly possible to enjoy a comprehensive tour in just a few days without having to rush. This 6 day/5 night itinerary provides you with the right balance of sightseeing and time to relax.
DAY 1 - Arrive Beirut.
On arrival in Beirut you will be met by a representative of World Discovery outside immigration and customs. You will then be taken by private car direct to your hotel. Recommended flight from London: MEA (Middle East Airlines) from London Heathrow (see below). If you are travelling from a country other than the UK we would be happy to give you guidance on your flight options.
DAY 2 – Beirut, Byblos.
Your World Discovery Lebanon holiday begins after breakfast when your private guide collects you from your hotel and takes you on a short tour of Lebanon's capital city, including a visit to the excellent National Museum of Beirut. Then drive north along the Mediterranean coast to the charming port of Byblos, where you will explore the ancient ruins and have lunch before returning to Beirut in the afternoon. If you have sufficient time, for an additional cost you may visit the amazing Jeita Grotto.
Meals included: Full breakfast, lunch.
DAY 3 - Sidon, Beiteddine.
In the morning head south to the Phoenician port of Sidon before driving into the Chouf Mountains to visit the hill town of Deir al-Qamar and the Palace of Beiteddine (pictured left). Continue to Zahlé, a pleasant town located at 900m/2555ft and renowned for its clean mountain air, where you will stay for the next two nights.
