Olathang Hotel, Paro
Established in 1974 for guests invited to the coronation of His Majesty the
King Jigme Singye Wangchuk, the Hotel Olathang is Bhutan’s largest hotel
sprawling over 28 acres of wooded land situated on a hill overlooking the Paro Valley.
The structure and design is purely
Bhutanese, but with modern internatiional facilities that ensure a warm and comfortable stay.
Guests have the option of staying in any one of the exquisite
wood-panelled 26 rooms in central building or in one of the 33 rooms (below left) in the
picturesque cottages spread over the pine-forested estate. All bedrooms have attached private bathrooms.
The large restaurant (below right) serves an array of Continental, Chinese, Indian and Bhutanese
cuisine. The well stocked bar displays a
wide selection of international and Bhutanese beverages.
