Pushkar Fair, Rajasthan
The Pushkar Fair takes place every October or November, and is linked to the 'Kartik Poornima' full moon. Farmers come from all over Rajasthan with cattle and camels to sell, and there is also much trading of leather goods and embroidery, bangles, necklaces and printed cloth. There are horse and camel races, and a huge fairground with jugglers, acrobats and magicians. Hundreds of thousands of visitors descend on Pushkar during this time, so it is an exciting, noisy and colourful occasion.
With World Discovery you are accommodated at Pushkar in a comfortable tented village organised by the Rajasthan Tourist Board. There are shared toilet facilities and showers. All meals at Pushkar (vegetarian only) are included.
The Pushkar Fair will take place from 20 to 28 November 2012 (the best dates for a foreign visitor are from 26 to 28 November). World Discovery can design a Rajasthan tour for you to include a recommended 2 night stay in the tented village (below).
