September

Bhutan

The summer in Bhutan lasts from June to September.  This more or less coincides with the rainy season, which although not as severe in the highlands (where you are more likely to visit) as in the tropical south of the country, can lead to roads being sometimes blocked due to landslides.  September is therefore not the ideal time to visit Bhutan.  Spring (March to May) and autumn (October and November) are better. 

Botswana

June to October is the best time to visit Botswana - with drier and cooler weather than at other times of the year.  Gameviewing is at its best.

Egypt

The hottest part of the year is coming to an end.  September is a good time to visit Egypt, with generally blue skies and sunshine throughout the country.  Please note that the feast of Ramadan in 2010 is from 11 August to 9 September; Muslims abstain from food, drink and smoking during daylight hours, and many local restaurants and cafes will be closed during the day.

Georgia

June to September are the best months for visiting Georgia.  It can get fairly hot in Tbilisi (especially in July where temperatures can pass 30 degrees Celsius), although the mountain areas will be relatively cooler, with Spring-like conditions for most of the time (although temperatures can drop below zero at the altitudes of more than 3,000 metres even during this period).

Iceland

September sees the end of the brief summer season and the start of some colder weather, but the sights are less crowded and most hotels and guesthouses are still open.  There is also the chance of witnessing the amazing Northern Lights at this time of the year.

India

North: By September the summer monsoon is coming to an end, and there are occasional showers.  Temperatures often pass 30 degrees Celsius but the air is clear after the rains and the peak tourist season hasn't yet begun so the visitor sites are less crowded.  Himalayas - September is one of the best times to head for the hills and visibility is at its best following the summer monsoon.
South: September is hot (up to 40 degrees Celsius), but usually dry and clear. 

  

Iran

Autumn is the ideal time to visit Iran.  The really hot days of summer are over and winter has not yet begun.  Days should be warm, sunny and dry.   Please note that the feast of Ramadan in 2010 is from 11 August to 9 September; Muslims abstain from food, drink and smoking during daylight hours, and many local restaurants and cafes will be closed during the day.   

  

  

Jordan and the Holy Land

September is an excellent time of the year to visit Jordan and the Holy Land.  Days should be warm, sunny and dry.  Please note that the feast of Ramadan in 2010 is from 11 August to 9 September; Muslims abstain from food, drink and smoking during daylight hours, and many local restaurants and cafes will be closed during the day.

Lebanon

Lebanon has a Mediterranean climate, with variations because of the mountainous interior.  In September it is hot and sunny on the coast, with little or no rain.  In the mountains it is generally fresh and sunny during the day.  Please note that the feast of Ramadan in 2010 is from 11 August to 9 September; Muslims abstain from food, drink and smoking during daylight hours, and many local restaurants and cafes will be closed during the day.

Namibia

Namibia is located in the tropics and is an all-year-round destination which is mostly rain-free. From June to September (winter) it is pleasantly warm during the day, but noticeably cooler at night.  This is a great time for wildlife viewing in Etosha as the longer grass has been grazed, making it much easier to spot the animals on the open plains.

Nepal

September, October and November are excellent months to visit Nepal.  This is the start of the dry season and days should be sunny and warm with excellent visibility.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka's temperature varies little throughout the year, with maximum day-time temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius, with the minimum usually above 20 degrees.  It is generally slightly cooler in the hills.  The summer rains are over by September and it should be dry and sunny.

Syria

Spring and autumn in Syria offer warm, bright and sunny days and minimal rain.  September is therefore an excellent month for a visit.  Please note that the feast of Ramadan in 2010 is from 11 August to 9 September; Muslims abstain from food, drink and smoking during daylight hours, and many local restaurants and cafes will be closed during the day.

Tanzania

Generally speaking the highlands (where the gameviewing takes place) enjoy a temperate climate, whilst the coast is hot and humid year round.  July to October are the best months for visiting Tanzania.  There is very little rain and superb gameviewing conditions.

Thailand

September is hot and humid in most of Thailand, with frequent rain.

Tibet

September is a good time to visit Tibet, with pleasant daytime temperatures (around 13 degrees Celsius) and generally dry conditions.

Uzbekistan

May, June and September are the best months to go to Uzbekistan.  Days should be sunny, dry and warm.  Please note that the feast of Ramadan in 2010 is from 11 August to 9 September; Muslims abstain from food, drink and smoking during daylight hours, and many local restaurants and cafes will be closed during the day.

Vietnam

There is no ideal time to visit Vietnam as there are distinct regional variations between the Northern, Central and Southern regions.  September is one of the hottest times of the year, with rain always a possibility in the central and southern parts of the country and occasionally there are typhoons in the north.
