The Spice Village is located high in the Western Ghats (hills) of Kerala close to Periyar Wildllife Reserve.  The resort itself consists of 52 cottages, set in 8 acres of tamed forest. The architecture is inspired by the jungle dwellings of the area, and care has been taken to use the same materials in construction.

Deliberately, there is no air-conditioning.  No television.  No piped music.  Simple pine furniture greets you when you enter your room.  And beneath your feet is nothing more than plain terracotta floor.  Yet, despite this simplicity, the Spice Village is a world renowned resort that's consistently won acclaim for its service, its cuisine and the unique experiences it offers.

The Spice Village is the perfect place to relax in a quiet, natural setting, surrounded by birdsong and the heady spice-scents that fill the air.  There is a multi-cuisine restuarant and the friendly Woodhouse Bar.  Facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, badminton and tennis and an Ayurvedic Centre.
