Terres Rouges Guesthouse, Banlung
The guesthouse overlooks the lake
This elegant villa-style guesthouse was once a former Governor’s residence and is without doubt the most charming in the remote north-east of Cambodia.
Owned by a former French paratrooper, the guesthouse has many French touches and its cuisine is French-influenced (highly recommended is the coq au vin, which has to be ordered a day in advance). The bar offers a wide variety of wine, beer and other alcoholic drinks.
Terres Rouges has a wonderful blend of dark wood, local textile wall-hangings and sculptures. The rooms in the main house are fan-cooled whilst the newer bungalows are air-conditioned. Each is uniquely decorated.
The first floor veranda offers a relaxing lounge area for unwinding after a day of exploration, and offers wonderful views over the Banlung Lake - the perfect place to watch the sunset with a cool drink.
The guesthouse is set in exotic tropical gardens.
