Usha Kiran Palace, Gwalior

Usha Kiran Palace, Gwalior

Hotel exterior in the evening

The Usha Kiran Palace was built in the late 19th century and has played host to the King of England and many other celebrities.  It has now been converted into a charming heritage hotel operated by the prestigious Taj Hotels and Resorts group. Set amidst 9 acres of beautifully landscaped lawns, this regal palace, rich in history, is outfitted with artistic stone carvings and delicate filigree work.

Each of the 15 rooms (pictured below - a deluxe room) is a reflection of the local culture and architecture. Light, airy, and modern, these rooms offer fine views and characteristic décor.  Well equipped with guest amenities including verandahs, international direct dial facility, minibar, and colour satellite TV.

The Silver Saloon overlooks a verdant courtyard and offers an inspired cuisine that was once the preserve of the Maratha and Nepal royal families.  The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and also offers select Continental, Asian and Indian delicacies accompanied with a choice of selected wines.  There is live indian classical music at dinner.
The Court is a courtyard café offering an alfresco dining experience in a palm-shaded court.
The Bada Bar (complete with a full-size billiard table) serves a range of international and national favourites.
